How to Do Your Makeup Flawlessly

Have you ever wondered how to get that perfect look with makeup? Knowing a few tricks can really help!

Steps

1.Begin by washing your face with a cleanser. This cleans your face well while scrubbing to get rid of dead skin, blackheads, oil, and dirt.

2.Follow with a moisturizer. Pick a light, oil-free moisturizer to ensure that your makeup will go on smoothly

3.Brush your teeth while waiting for your moisturizer to settle. This is a must before you leave the house to go anywhere. It will whiten your smile and freshen your breath. Nobody wants to hang around a person with nasty breath.

4.Start with a foundation primer. A definite product to have around is BeautiControl's Undercover Makeup Primer in "Mint". The green counteracts with any redness in your complexion, reducing the look of blemishes and rosacea. It also makes your makeup last longer. Dab the primer on until it's invisible. Don't rub (to avoid streaks) or use a sponge (you'll want the primer to be concentrated).

5.Put on the foundation. If you already have flawless skin (no freckles, blemishes, discoloration, or uneven tone) you should use a tinted moisturizer. This will add a bit of color without looking cake-like. If you want to cover a bit more, use a foundation. This is one product that you should splurge on. Chanel and Dior make excellent foundations, but make sure to test a bunch of them at department store counters to find the right one for you. Ask one of the professionals to help you find the right color.

6.Once you have your perfect foundation, it's time to apply! If you have really dull skin, try using an illuminator. Just mix a tiny bit of this with your foundation, and you'll have a radiant glow! Some people like using brushes, but you may prefer fingers. Dab a bit of foundation onto your fingers and smooth it onto your face. Make sure to get your jawline and around your eyes. Don't worry about complete coverage, we'll get to that later. Don't stress about cake-like foundation or a bit of streak on the fuzz on your face. There's a fix for that! Remember: foundation is meant to even out your skin tone. Don't use it to add color or completely cover blemishes! We'll fix those problems soon!

7.Buy a good concealer. For this, you'll want a liquid concealer in a wand. Dab the concealer on blemishes, freckles (a few freckles are cute and ensure that your look is natural. don't try to mask ALL freckles. just lightly blend them). Foundation is probably enough for freckles. Use the wand to apply concealer directly to the blemish. Lightly dab using the pad of your finger until the concealer is completely blended. Use concealer under your eyes and on your eyelids, even if you don't need to. It will really make a difference.

8.If you still don't have enough coverage, but don't want to look like you're wearing a mask, apply a powder with a large brush over your entire face. Again, don't worry about it looking too powdery (yet!)

• If you need to, apply a bronzer for tan looking skin. Bronzer is another product that is okay to splurge on a bit. Make sure to try the bronzer on at the counter, because many can look muddy. Look for a bronzer that has a more of a brick than a dark brown tint. Use an angled, hard brush to apply lightly over your entire face (remembering your jawline and neck). Bronzer can very easily make you look fake, so apply conservatively. If you still need a bit of color, apply to your forehead, brow bones, bridge of the nose, chin, and the apples of you cheeks. (To find the apples, smile big and apply from the bottom of your nose to to the top of your ear in an upward angle).
• If you want a pretty, more natural look, skip the bronzer and go for blush. Don't go too pink. You'll want a natural color with a bit of pink/tan hues to it. Nars Orgasm Blush and CoverGirl Cheekers are favorites everywhere. Apply these only on the apples of your cheeks. (To find the apples, smile big and apply from the bottom of your nose to to the top of your ear in an upward angle).
• Some people avoid bronzers and blushes because they don't last very long. Buy a to-go package or try using a sample to bring along with you so you can reapply. If this doesn't suit you, try using a cheek stain. These last for a long time, but can be difficult to apply. So be sure to read the instructions. Another trick is to use lip gloss as a blush. Don't use too much! This will last a long time and is easy to spread, but can be a bit goopy and sticky if too much is applied or you have a waxy lip gloss, so be careful!
• This will solve many problems... from cake-like foundation, to streaks, to makeup that doesn't last long. After you're done applying the makeup to your skin, grab your blow dryers! Blast the heat on your face for about 30 seconds, and your skin will look like porcelain!
• Use oil blotting sheets from CVS. They're cheap, reduce shine, and don't disturb makeup. Bring these along with you. If you are in a pinch try using the toilet seat covers (yes, get a clean one!)provided in most public restrooms for shine on your nose, they seriously blot the oil! Just tear off a piece and blot your nose and the shine is gone.

9.Do your eyes.Now it's time for eyes.

• Start by curling your lashes. You can heat your curler at home though. Curl your eyes for about 15 seconds on each side.
• Apply a bit of Vaseline to your eyelashes. This will nourish and moisturize them, making them appear longer and more voluminous.
• Use an eyelash extender. The fibers from this connect and make lashes much longer.
• Apply mascara. Wait for each coat to dry before applying another to avoid clumps.
• Apply eyeliner. Liquid or pencil, top or bottom, eyeliner can be applied in many ways and looks good in different ways depending on the eye shape, color, and size. You'll really just have to experiment with this.
• When using eyeshadow, stick to powders. Use sheer, natural looking shades to avoid looking like a bimbo. Shimmery shadows work well, too

10.When using lip liner, make sure to use a nude shade. Nothing ruins a face like outlined lips.

11.Find a nude colour of lipstick to match your liner

12.Add clear gloss or Vaseline

13.Apply a brow gel to keep your eyebrows in place.

Tips

Always stick to natural colors and never go too dark or too light on the skin. Your foundation should match the colour of your neck.
